Hydraulic Power System Analysis $139.95 The excitement and the glitz of mechatronics has shifted the engineering community's attention away from fluid power systems in recent years. However, fluid power still remains advantageous in many applications compared to electrical or mechanical power transmission methods. Designers are left with few practical resources to help in the design and analysis of fluid power systems, especially when approaching fluid power for the first time. Helping you overcome these hurdles, Hydraulic Power System Analysis demonstrates modern computer-aided analytical techniques used to model nonlinear, dynamic fluid power systems. Following an overview of fluid power, the authors examine various relevant fluid properties, energy calculations, and steady state and dynamic analysis along with a review of automatic control theory. Turning to modeling, the next few chapters address valves and motors and then apply dynamic modeling to examples relating to pumps, hydrostatic transmissions, and valves. The book includes a unique chapter showing how to combine flow resistance equations with the differential equations governing dynamic system performance. The final chapter translates electrical circuit theory concepts to noise attenuation in fluid power systems. Illustrated with many equations, practical computer modeling examples, and exercises, Hydraulic Power System Analysis provides a much-needed modernization of dynamic modeling for fluid power systems using powerful computational tools. |

Control Flow $116.3 In computer science control flow (or alternatively, flow of control) refers to the order in which the individual statements, instructions, or function calls of an imperative or functional program are executed or evaluated. Within an imperative programming language, a control flow statement is a statement whose execution results in a choice being made as to which of two or more paths should be followed. For nonstrict functional languages, functions and language constructs exist to achieve the same result, but they are not necessarily called control flow statements. The kinds of control flow statements supported by different languages vary, but can be categorized by their effect: continuation at a different statement (unconditional branch or jump), executing a set of statements only if some condition is met (choice i.e. conditional branch), executing a set of statements zero or more times, until some condition is met (i.e. loop the same as conditional branch), executing a set of distant statements, after which the flow of control usually returns (subroutines, coroutines, and continuations), stopping the program, preventing any further execution (unconditional halt). Pneumatic Flow Control $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Pneumatic flow control is the use of air as a control medium, or as the controlled medium, in which one medium controls the flow of another. There are two possible pneumatic flow controls: those that are controlled by pneumatics, and those that control pneumatics. Pneumatically controlled valves are valves that are controlled by pressurized air. These may include water flow valves that are controlled by compressed air. Pneumatically controlling valves are valves that control the flow of pressurized air. Another medium such as water (hydraulics) or electricity, for example, may be used to control the valves. In some cases, the valves are operated manually rather than automatically. Pneumatics is that branch of technology, which deals with the study and application of use of pressurized gas to affect mechanical motion. Pneumatic power is used in industry, where factory machines are commonly plumbed for compressed air; other compressed inert gases can also be used. Pneumatics also has applications in dentistry, construction, mining, and other areas. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Hydraulic Processes on Alluvial Fans $155 Alluvial fans are among the most prominent landscape features in the American Southwest and throughout the semi-arid and arid regions of the world. The importance of developing a qualitative and quantitative understanding of the hydraulic processes which formed, and which continue to modify, these features derives from their rapid and significant development over the past four decades. As unplanned urban sprawl has moved from valley floors onto alluvial fans, the serious damage incurred from infrequent flow events has dramatically increased. This book presents a concise, coherent discussion of our current and rapidly expanding knowledge of hydraulic processes on alluvial fans. It addresses the subject from a multidisciplinary viewpoint, acquainting the geologist with engineering principles, and the civil engineer and planner with geological principles pertinent to the analysis of hydraulic processes on alluvial fans. The book thus provides much of interest to geologists, civil engineers and planners involved in floodplain management and drainage design in arid and semi-arid regions. |
